Booking your tattoo appointment
How to book
Fill out the tattoo booking form with your idea, preferred dates, and any relevant details — skin type, placement preferences, size if you have one in mind. The more context you give me, the better I can prepare your design and quote. I’ll reply by email.
Submitting the form is not a confirmed booking. We finalize everything together once we’re in touch.
You can also DM me on instagram if that’s more handy for you, just please include all the relevant information 🙂
Deposit
A deposit is required before your appointment goes into my calendar and before I start drawing. The standard deposit is €50. If you’d like to see sketches before the appointment, the deposit is €100. Unless I tell you otherwise, it’s always €50.
Your deposit is always deducted from the final price of your tattoo.
For the full deposit and rescheduling policy, see the deposit policy section.
When I work
I’m in the studio Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays (Saturdays at Astrid and Miyu Amsterdam). Other days are sometimes possible — mention it in your request and I’ll let you know what I can do.
Deposit Policy
Why a deposit?
A deposit secures your appointment in my calendar and allows me to start working on your design. Without a paid deposit, your date is not confirmed and I won’t begin drawing.
How much is the deposit?
The standard deposit is €50 per person. If you’d like to see sketches before your appointment, the deposit is €100. Unless I specifically tell you otherwise, assume the deposit is €50.
For longer sessions or multi-day bookings, I may request a higher deposit — I’ll always let you know upfront if that’s the case.
How is it paid?
I accept payment in the following ways:
- Bank transfer (international bank accounts)
- Payment request (Dutch banks)
- Revolut
- Cash in person at the studio
I do not accept PayPal.
When I send you the payment details, I’ll include a description to use as the payment description. Please use it exactly as given — it’s how I trace your deposit on my end. If the reference is missing or incorrect, it creates extra work and can delay confirmation of your booking.
How long do you hold my spot?
Once we’ve agreed on a date, I’ll send you the payment details. Your spot is held for 24 hours from that point. I need confirmation of the transfer — a screenshot is fine — within that window. If I haven’t heard from you by then, the date goes back to being available and you’ll need to check with me whether it’s still free before rebooking.
Is the deposit subtracted from the total?
Yes, always. Your deposit is deducted from the total cost of your tattoo. If your session comes to €250 and you paid a €50 deposit, you pay €200 at the end of your appointment. If you paid €100, you pay €150.
This policy also applies to Astrid and Miyu appointments
If we’re booking a session at Astrid and Miyu Amsterdam, the same deposit rules apply.
Rescheduling
If you need to reschedule, please let me know at least 48 hours before your appointment. In that case, your deposit moves to the new date — no extra charge.
If you contact me less than 48 hours before your appointment, your deposit is forfeited and a new €50 deposit is required to rebook. If your original deposit was €100 (sketch preview), rescheduling within 48 hours requires a new €50 deposit.
Refunds
Deposits are non-refundable. The only exceptions are:
I cancel the appointment myself
Something outside of either of our control makes the appointment impossible
Exceptional circumstances are assessed on a case-by-case basis — I’ll always try to be fair.
No-shows
If you don’t show up and haven’t communicated with me at any point, your deposit is forfeited and I will not be taking future bookings from you. This is a firm policy — my time and preparation go into every appointment, and a no-show with no notice is not something I can accommodate.
Preparation
In the days before your appointment
- Drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin is easier to work on and tends to heal better afterward.
- Moisturize the area daily — but skip lotion on the day of your appointment so there’s no residue that could interfere with ink application.
- Gentle exfoliation 2–3 days before is helpful. Avoid harsh chemical exfoliants or anything with retinoids or acids on the area.
- Avoid alcohol at least 24 hours before your session — it thins your blood and affects how cleanly the ink goes in.
- Skip aspirin and ibuprofen for the same reason. Paracetamol is fine if you need pain relief.
- Avoid sunburn on the area. Damaged skin is painful to tattoo, heals poorly, and can distort your ink. If you’ve burned recently, please reschedule. I will not tattoo over a sunburn.
- Don’t moisturise immediately before the session, as residue on your skin could interfere with the tattooing process.
On the day
- Eat a proper meal before you arrive. Eating a balanced meal helps stabilize your blood sugar, preventing lightheadedness during the session. Low blood sugar makes everything harder.
- Shower and come clean. Wash the area with mild soap.
- Wear clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed — loose and comfortable is always right. Also it’s better if you wear something dark colored or clothes you don’t mind if they get dirty. For tattoos on the back, take a zipper hoodie or even a bathrobe to cover your front and keep you warm.
- Bring water and snacks for longer sessions. Something with slow-release energy works better than sugar.
- If it’s your first tattoo, or you’re nervous — that’s completely normal. Tell me and we’ll work at your pace <3
A note on skin (conditions)
If you have eczema, psoriasis, or any active skin condition on or near the area we’re working on, please mention it when you book. I assess these on a case-by-case basis. Also, if you know your Fitzpatrick skin type, include it — it helps me prepare properly for your session.
Aftercare
Second skin (the clear bandage)
I’ll cover your fresh tattoo with a second skin bandage before you leave. This film stays on for 2–5 days. How long you should keep it on depends on your skin and the tattoo. I will let you know the exact recommendation at the end of your session. You can shower normally with it on — just don’t soak it.
You may see plasma fluid under the bandage — it often looks like a grey or dark smudge. This is completely normal and will wash off when you remove it.
To remove: stretch the bandage towards you gently rather than pulling up or down. You want to keep your fingers on the skin while gently stretching the plastic away from the tattoo and alongside the skin. Take your time. Please do it in the shower, under warm running water because it makes it easier and allows you to wash the tattoo immediately after removal of the second skin. If adhesive residue remains, shea butter helps dissolve it.
If you sweat underneath the second skin, you need to remove it asap — otherwise you risk a sweat rash under the adhesive and complications with healing.
Once the second skin is off
- Wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and an unscented, hypoallergenic soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Don’t rub.
- Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer or tattoo balm — less is more. My fav: Hustle Butter! Other very good option: Cetaphil moisturizing cream. I don’t recommend Bepanthen tattoo and other thick creams.
- Repeat 2–3 times a day for the first two weeks.
- Let any flaking or peeling happen on its own. Don’t pick — picking can cause fine lines to fade or distort. If it itches, gently tap the area instead of scratching.
What to avoid
- Avoid soaking in any water — lakes, ocean, bathtub, pool — for the first month. This is especially important in the first two weeks. Showers are fine.
- No sun on the tattoo for the first two weeks. After that, use a high SPF sunscreen whenever the tattoo is exposed. UV is the main cause of fading.
- No fake tan or mechanical exfoliants for at least two weeks.
- Avoid tanning beds and chemical exfoliants for at least a month.
- Keep tight clothing off the area while it’s healing.
- Keep pets and pet hair away from an uncovered healing tattoo.
What to expect
Fine line tattoos tend to scab less than bolder work, but some flaking is normal. The tattoo may look slightly faded or cloudy a few weeks in — the deeper layers of skin are still regenerating. This is normal. Give it time.
Touch-ups are a normal part of the fine line tattoo journey. If something doesn’t heal as expected, send me a photo and we’ll figure it out together.
Something looks wrong?
Some redness and swelling right after is normal. Redness around the edge of the second skin means you need to remove the bandaid. If after a few days you’re seeing increasing redness, swelling, or anything that looks infected — see a doctor. Don’t wait on that.
If you’re in doubt please message me. I respond the quickest to my DMs on instagram, but any other channel of communication will work!
